Start the Screenplay – Write the Concept

Thought it would be fun to start a series of writing exercises in which we take an image and share our individual take on what it might be about.
For this one, let’s keep it basic …
Write the concept
Share a concept inspired by the image to the right. Feel free to explore any genre, character name, the whole nine yards.
Let’s see how many concepts we can come up with based on this image!
I’ll kick it off:
Though Franklin Abigail, a civil war survivor who sat quietly on his porch day in and day out, never bothered anyone or stirred trouble, the locals started to believe he was hiding a secret, for he had barely aged and it was now 2003.
If you enjoy this, you might want to check out ScribblePlay.com – a website (still in beta) that I’ve created that focuses on providing a place for writers to stretch their creative abilities, collaborate with writers across the globe, and explore the craft of writing.

Hi, my name is Christopher and I'm a professional script reader in Los Angeles and the founder of scriptxray.com.
Hey Christopher,
Tough but needed exercise. Thanks for getting us going.
This really challenging.
Here's mine: hope its okay.
A group of history professors discusses the theory of time travel is the fourth dimension. One of the professor produces a a book called “Caliber”. Two of the professors are shocked by the sight of the book. The third says “ we finally finished work on the time machine and Caliber will be our manual and make contact with him”.
A blaze of light.
Three of the professors are inside a shack talking to a retired curator.
One of the professor looks out the window sees a red planet eclipse the earth. He returns to the table and only Franklin Abigail is there, enjoying a cup of tea and smiling with his rotten teeth…
Hi Chris, Ok here goes…
There is a journalist who is telling the stories of several civil war survivors to a group of researchers on the civil war. One of the survivors is Franklin abigail. Flashback: Franklin is full of life, and has a wonderful family but all is believed to be gone during the mindless violence in the civil war. He also suffers from a rare disease, which could cause instant death – the symptoms could be anywhere from any news that could get him excited or extremely sad. The town people think he has a secret (as mentioned by the town officials) – but does he?
Hint: The town officials in fact, have isolated franklin and have kept a secret from him… which will be revealed in the end. Will Franklin ever re unite with his family? his long lost son? or his wife?
