LINKS | Helpful Screenwriting Sparks of Inspiration
Hi. Thought I’d pass along a few things I found interesting or helpful as an aspiring screenwriter. They all really come in hand when you need that special spark of inspiration for your own work. Enjoy!
Screenwriting Wiki – basics
This is always good to check into every now and then. With all the information out there today, sometimes it becomes overwhelming, right? Check out the wiki for basic approaches to screenwriting, including the three-act structure, Syd Field, mythology, and more.
CultureHacker – a place where tech meets storytelling
A new portion of the WorkbookProject dedicated to exploring how technology is changing storytelling. You’ll find everything from case studies to new ideas about cross-media.
Screenwriting – a scriptxray group on facebook
This is an ever-growing network of screenwriters coming together on facebook to talk about screenwriting. In addition to including some of the content from scriptxray’s main site, I’m also hoping to create original content and conversations with screenwriters like you exclusively. Check it out. Join it. Get involved by posting a discussion topic, wall post, or what ever. Jump in the conversation and connect with other screenwriters.
Workbook Project
Truly one of the best open-source filmmaking resource online … period. The founder is a critically acclaimed, award winning writer-director, a pioneer in DIY filmmaking & distribution, and named one of twenty-five people helping re-invent entertainment.
Screenwriter, Paul Haggis.

TriggerStreet
One of the largest networks or screenwriters, novelists, short story writers, filmmakers, and other aspiring creatives online. You can upload your film, screenplay, short story, novel, and more and share it with others interested in your work. The best part is you can actually get feedback using TriggerStreet’s unique user participation system, which requires you to review other filmmaker and writer’s work in order to receive feedback for your own work. Check it out. Look me up – the name’s Imagination!
Writer, J.K. Rowling
One of my favorite writers, and a true source of inspiration. She’s a master of words, character, mystery, and story.
