    Christopher,
    What makes your contest different
    from these:Savvy,Bluecat,Frenzy etc.

  • Christopher says:

For starters, it’s way smaller and way cheaper (with the exception of Frenzy which is modeled after the free NaNoWriMo challenge).

Though other competitions, such as BlueCat, offer a great deal of prize money and prizes to the winner, it’s also easy to become lost in the thousands of submissions they receive — Bluecat received 3,229 submissions during their last competition.

Additionally, the majority of the competitions you’ll find at Scriptxray.com are focused toward a specific area of screenwriting, be it character development, subtext, or story setup (last month’s competition).

Not every competition is geared toward finding the best writer out there — rather, each one focuses on finding the writer best at what they do, whether that’s character development, subtext, or story setup. I wanted to throw a competition that brought light to writers that might not always be considered the best of the best, but rather the best at what the competition was focused on — thereby giving writers fair opportunity to become recognized for their talent.

In the industry, it’s not always about hiring the best of the best — it’s often about hiring one writer really strong with character and another writer strong with action and pace.

The feature screenplay competitions at the end of each season do, however, focus on general feature length work, so there’s still opportunity there as well.

In addition, all submissions are automatically entered into the annual competition — winners will be announced at the start of next year.

  • Really it’s a nice way to encourage all the screenwriters working within the feature-length medium. And the guidelines are given very precisely. The offered prize is attractive. And the most happening thing is entry is free. Good luck to all participants.
