Update: Competition Deadline Extended
In light of the pretty vocal demand I received this past weekend regarding the deadline falling on Memorial Day weekend, I’ve decided to extend the competition deadline four days — bringing the competition deadline to Friday the 4th.
I hope this helps the writers out there that were interested in submitting but found themselves either away from home or just too busy celebrating.
Also, for those still waiting on their xOne Coverage from the Strongest Screenplay Competition, sit tight — your coverage is on its way! As said before, the submissions were overwhelming to say the least … and to provide helpful, worthwhile coverage for each one is definitely a challenge. If you haven’t already, check out the three winners.
The Feature Screenplay Competition was a bit different — though I’ve amplified the prizes a bit with ScriptStork’s help, the amount of submissions was only a fraction of the first competition. Understandable considering this competition focuses on completed works, which not only requires completed screenplays, but the willingness to share your work, which a lot of writer’s fear more than anything else.
For those that have no fear in sharing their work, there are a bunch of prizes waiting for the winner, including free xCoverage ($125 value) and a free stork ($75 value) from ScriptStork.com.
I hope you had enjoyed your weekend, and look forward to reading your submission!

You type a lot Christopher but you should hire someone to help you with the workload. But no excuse. How come other contests deliver on time.
No excuse. Why so late? And if I apply to this contest, when will I get my feedback? I be money that this contest will drag for another two years? And how come Bluecat and PAGE contest delivers on time?
Really frustrated with this when I have used Script Stork and liked their services.
I understand why applicants might be frustrated with the time it’s taking me to provide the xOne Coverage promised, but I think you’re a little confused, Sara. The first competition here (Strongest Story Setup Competition) has ended.
The extension is for last month’s competition (The Feature Length Screenplay Competition) deadline, which fell on a national holiday — as written above, the new deadline is June 4th.
I’m flattered you would consider scriptxray ranking side by side with Bluecat, but you need to understand that scriptxray is merely a blog throwing a competition for the awesome people that read it.
I also don’t understand why you would encourage me to hire people to read competition entries merely to speed up the process — most might be happy to hire an “experienced reader” to “analyze” a submission for $10 a pop, but I don’t agree with that model right now. I threw the competition so people could achieve something regardless if they won or not; you get free coverage if you win, you get real, professional experience if even if you don’t.
If you want feedback from an intern / reader making $10 a script, these competitions aren’t for you.
Has anyone received their xOne coverage yet from the strongest story setup compo?
Is this for feature length scripts only? Or can I submit a short (13 pages)?
Hey Diane! This is for feature length screenplays only as the Strongest Story Setup Competition has ended.
Hope all is well!
